I’ve put the new SIM2 and SIM2 Max head to head against last year’s SIM offering to find out. Now it's all about focusing on aerodynamics rather than ball speed and forgiveness. These drivers are incredibly easy on the eye, but do they perform as good as they look? 12% larger face over the original (2020) SIM driver. The bottom of the club looks like a capital T with the Inertia Generator bulking out the back of the head with space cut out either side of the T. You can really see the difference when looking behind somebody as they address the ball. It’s even more solid than before - dull like a whack, rather than a high pitched ping sound. I didn’t notice an increase in club head speed due to the new aerodynamic shape however. However, that's where the benefits of the sliding weights come in. This is definitely going to be a tough fight! So if you're a golfer that really likes to hit driver off the deck - there could be some issues here. That alone should appeal to the majority of golfers, who struggle to consistently hit the center of the club face throughout an entire round. The SIM DHY is visible more chunky than the UDI and also shows a little more offset too, although perhaps not quite as much as I would have expected, and so this essentially ends up being like the 'ugly duckling' to the SIM UDI.
